CEM Colom in Ciutat Vella (Barcelona)

CEM Colom is a municipal sports centre in the heart of Ciutat Vella, with a small pool that is perfect for training, a sauna appreciated in winter, a solarium with lovely views, a large and well-kept yoga space and many class rooms. Some members describe a beautiful, family-style neighbourhood gym with very professional staff, and several receptionists and maintenance staff are praised for their patience and guided tours. Criticism is nonetheless frequent. Many reviewers, especially international members, describe rude staff who enforce dress rules without explanation, pushy sales practices with prices that do not match those advertised and early closures. Members also mention a limited fitness room often taken over by organised classes, machines broken for months, old spinning bikes, changing rooms needing attention, no air conditioning in summer and the inappropriate behaviour of one user towards women. A well-located centre with interesting spaces, held back by its customer service and maintenance.
