Marítim by Claror in Ciutat Vella (Barcelona)

Marítim by Claror, on the Barceloneta seafront, is a big municipal centre known for its spa: saltwater pools with bubbles, swimming lanes and three saunas, dry, humid and Mediterranean. The gym is equipped with modern eGym, Matrix and Gym80 machines, there are drinking fountains and a broad timetable of guided classes, and the atmosphere attracts a young crowd. Its weak points are maintenance and service. Several reviews describe changing rooms that are often dirty, spa elements frequently out of order, a jacuzzi that is not warm enough and, in one case, a rat near the changing rooms. The fitness room is often crowded and awkwardly laid out, some accessories are missing, and the reception team is criticised for a cold welcome. Closing procedures on Sundays and the air conditioning being switched off are other irritants. An outstanding spa and modern machines, but hygiene and customer service need attention.
